EGCg Green Tea Extract
Green Tea Extract contains numerous compounds, including Polyphenols and Catechins, that provide potent antioxidant benefits. Research suggests that the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg), an antioxidant-like compound found in green tea, is over 200 times more powerful than vitamin E in neutralizing pro-oxidants and free radicals.
Green Tea & Cognitive Health: Green tea consumption lessens the risk of Age-Related Cognitive Decline (ARCD) in Seniors. Lab research also suggests that EGCg decreases production of beta-amyloid, a protein that forms the plaques responsible for Alzheimer’s.
Green Tea & Heart Health: Green tea polypehnols help improve the cholesterol profile (decreasing LDL “bad” cholesterol and increasing HDL “good” cholesterol), whilst also protecting against damage to LDL (“bad”) cholesterol to lessen the risk of atherosclerosis. Green tea may also promote cardiovascular health by making platelets in the blood less sticky.
EGCg Green Tea & Infection/Immunity: EGCg stimulates the production of several immune system cells and it has been suggested to have antiviral activity. Lab tests revealed that EGCG strongly inhibited the replication of the HIV virus.
Green tea also reduces the risk of dental caries by reducing plaque formation & has topical antibacterial properties against the bacteria that cause dental decay.
Lab research suggest that green tea has enormous potential as an anti-cancer, anti-tumour agent, especially of the oesophagus, prostate and lung. Clinical tests show that EGCG not only inhibits the growth of new cancer cells, but it kills some existing cancer cells without harming normal cells. |
